Harvey elects two to school board

HARVEY – James Mertz and Bradley Arnold were top vote-getters in Tuesday’s election for the Harvey School Board. Results are unofficial until canvassed by the school board on June 23.

Unofficial results for the rural district seat showed: Mertz, 310 votes; David Harness, 61 votes; and Luke Heitman, 27 votes. For the Harvey city seat, unofficial results showed Arnold with 267 votes and Jim Weinmann with 147 votes.

“Thank you to everyone who took time to vote and to each of the candidates who stepped forward to serve our district. The strength of Harvey Public Schools comes from our engaged and committed community, and I am grateful for your support as we move ahead together,” Dr. Robert Lukens, superintendent at Harvey Public School District, said in a prepared statement.
