Woman charged with child endangerment

A Minot woman has been charged with child endangerment following a visit to a residence by the Minot Probation Office.

According to Minot Police Department information, Child Protective Services contacted the police department on April 25 regarding a child who had been removed from a Minot residence following a home visit by probation officers.

The visit took place on April 16 at the residence of Christy Ann Monington, 38, Minot. According to police, during the visit, probation officers discovered drug paraphernalia in Monington’s bedroom. Subsequent testing revealed Monington tested positive for methamphetamine and THC, and the child tested positive for methamphetamine.

Monington admitted to using methamphetamine in various ways while the child was present during an interview with investigators, according to police information. Montington stated she had used the drug while the child was nearby on multiple occasions, including inside her vehicle with the child in the back seat.

An arrest warrant was obtained following the investigation, and Monington was arrested and charged on Wednesday with endangerment of a child or vulnerable adult, a Class C felony. Monington was transported to the Ward County Jail.
