Weekend heat sets record highs
The rain and thunderstorms forecasted for the rest of this week are a welcome sight for the Minot area after a pair of all time record high temperatures were shattered over the weekend.
The National Weather Service in Bismarck confirmed Saturday’s high of 94 eclipsed the previous record of 90 set on May 10, 1987. The temperature continued to climb on Sunday all the way to 99 degrees, topping the record set at 95 degrees in 1906.
The streak continued through Monday, when another record of 92 in 1987 was beaten by a high of 94. However, Monday’s high of 85 came up way short of the record from 1932 of 94.
The rest of the week will bring some welcome relief, with a high of 73 today, and forecasts predicting highs in the mid to low 50s through Saturday. Widespread frost is predicted Saturday night, with a low of 30.
