Students, advisers attend middle school leadership conference
BISMARCK – Advisers and students from Minot and the area participated in the annual statewide conference of the North Dakota Association of Student Councils-Middle Level (NDASC) April 28-29 in Bismarck. The theme of the event was Leadership Looks Good on You – Let’s Go Barbie!
Clover Getzlaff, a student at Erik Ramstad Middle School in Minot, was awarded the 2025 Debbie Award. The Debbie Award was created in honor of Debbie Anderson, whose leadership, encouragement, and constant advocacy helped to create the Middle Level Conference.
Tiffany Dooley from Jamestown Middle School received the 2005 Middle Level Advisor of the Year Award for her dedication and commitment to student leadership, character and service. She was nominated by her students in recognition of her outstanding service.
Among 2025-2026 NDASC Middle Level state officers elected were seventh graders Emma Erickson of South Prairie and Fletchers Moore of Williston.
This year’s conference highlighted fundraising and support for Alzheimer’s awareness, including selling Forget Me Nots to raise money and put a pie in the face of the winners. Students raised $300 for Alzheimer’s research and awareness.
Other events during the conference included keynote speakers, breakout sessions, adviser training and community service activities. Students participated in evening social events. Breakout sessions for students covered a variety of engaging topics, including student leadership, fundraising and community service and suicide prevention.
