Diaper pantry operator receives Eagle Award

Submitted Photo Axel Beckett is shown with her dogs Ajax and Arlo and her former dog, Amber, who died earlier this year.

Minot Area Diaper Pantry co-founder Axel Beckett earned a Minot Area Chamber EDC Eagle Award in April for going above and beyond for a client.

Beckett was nominated by an individual who was in a particularly tough spot in their life at the time, living out of a hotel with their child. The nominator goes on to praise Beckett for her kind and inviting personality.

“I showed up for assistance with diapers and Axel was so kind and listened to my situation and offered advice to other places to also help me out. Never shamed me or made me feel bad, and went above and beyond for my family, even personally bought us dinner,” said Beckett’s nominator.

Beckett helped start the diaper pantry with staff member Amanda Lund.

“After other organizations in the community had closed, Amanda and myself got together to start the diaper pantry,” Beckett said. “The community has been extremely supportive with numerous donations.”

Children younger than five are able to receive up to 40-50 diapers from the pantry each month. “We also have other donations that we try to help with as well, such as formula, wipes, baby food, etc.,” Beckett said.

Beckett is pursuing a college degree in social work with a hope to work in the foster care system.

“I have two years left of my degree and just bought a house in Minot,” Beckett said. “I am looking forward to finishing my degree and seeing what else Minot has in store for me.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
