Race for Parkinson’s scheduled in Bismarck
BISMARCK – The 15th Annual Race for Parkinson’s is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, at Sertoma Community Park Shelter in Bismarck.
Check-in, day of race registration and bib pickup begins at 8 a.m., according to information from the race sponsors. A short program at 8:45 a.m. will be followed by competitive 5K and 10K runs at 9 a.m.; Kids FUN Dash at 9:15 a.m.; 5K walk at 9:30 a.m.; and 1 mile Family FUN Walk at 9:40 a.m. Virtual participants can share photos on the Bismarck Parkinson’s support group page on social media.

Parkinson’s Disease is a disorder of the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) that affects movement. Its symptoms include shaking, difficulty walking, muscle rigidity, impaired balance, loss of automatic movements and cognitive impairment. While there is no cure for Parkinson’s disease, medications, specialized exercise programs and therapy may improve symptoms.
The Minot Parkinson’s Support group meets the first Wednesday of each month at 2:30 p.m. at Elision Assisted Living, 3515 10th St. SW.
Through April 26, Bearscat Bakehouse in Minot, Bismarck and Mandan will have Parkinson’s Donuts to benefit local support groups.
