Williston Fire Department Provides Mutual Aid to Williams County Wildfires
WILLISTON – The Williston Fire Department was dispatched at 4:03 p.m. on Saturday, October 5th, by the Williams County Dispatch Center to provide mutual aid support for a wildfire with the Ray Fire Department.
According to City of Williston information, WFD initially responded with two brush trucks and a water tender. At 4:53 p.m., WFD was requested to provide mutual aid support for a wildfire with the Grenora Fire Department. WFD initially responded with a water tender.
Due to the size and complexity of the reported wildfires, the Williams County Emergency
Operations Center was activated through Williams County/Williston Emergency Management at approximately 5:10 p.m.. WFD command staff joined the Williams County Sheriff’s Office and
Emergency Management Office to support operations.
At 5:41 p.m., WFD was dispatched to provide paramedic support to Ray Ambulance, which was transporting a burn victim to a Williston hospital. At 7:02 p.m., WFD was alerted again to respond to Ray for an additional burn victim. At 7:26 p.m., WFD was requested to provide ambulance standby for the incident.
In total, 19 firefighters from WFD were operating on the scene.
During this incident, WFD activated a voluntary recall of all staff. In addition to supporting this incident, WFD responded to 16 calls for service in our primary response area. WFD also provided mutual aid to McKenzie County by providing a paramedic-level ambulance to transport a critically injured person from Watford City to Minot.
