Minot educator named NDACTE Teacher of the Year

Byron Borgen

Byron Borgen, career and technical education educator at Memorial Middle School at Minot Air Force Base, was recognized as 2024 Teacher of Year by the North Dakota Association for Career and Technical Education (NDACTE).

The state winners in seven award categories were announced at the NDACTE Professional Development Conference general session in Bismarck on Aug 6.

Borgen was recognized for his demonstration of innovation in the classroom, commitment to students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in his school and community. The NDACTE highlighted Borgen’s enthusiasm and dedication to his students, along with his drive to seek new and exciting materials to bring to the classroom.

Borgen’s philosophy is “engaged students are much easier to manage. When students have an investment in what they’re learning, student engagement comes naturally,” which the NDACTE said was easily observable in his classroom as his students research, design, build and test their projects.

Borgen also actively supports the Technology Student Association Minot Public Schools chapter and assists with the state TSA officer training each summer in Bismarck.

Starting at $2.99/week.
