Pilot’s family to attend crash site dedication ceremony
FLASHER – Sixty years ago, a Minot Air Force Base pilot and the F-106 “Delta Dart” he was flying crashed between Raleigh and Flasher, southwest of Bismarck.
The pilot, Air Force Capt. William “Bill” Richardson, a member of the 5th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, died in the crash.
On Friday, July 19, a dedication ceremony will be held at the crash site with Richardson family members and local community residents.
Last year a memorial was placed at the crash site, thanks to a group of local people.
“It was a community project. The Carson and Flasher American Legion posts paid for it,” said Scott Nelson, a farmer/rancher/artist from Solen.
