Minot Symphony to hold annual Secret Garden Tour

Minot Symphony Orchestra will host its 30th annual Secret Garden Tour on Tuesday from 4:30-8:30 p.m.

The annual Secret Garden Tour offers a glimpse into hidden, private gardens, showcasing unique landscapes, plants, herbs, yard art and more. The host garden addresses are printed on the tickets for the event.

Participants attending the event will travel throughout Minot in their own vehicles and explore seven different gardens. Each garden has its own theme and combination of flowers, plants and vegetables in one-of-a-kind landscapes. Participants can spend as little or as much time as they’d like at each garden during the open-house style tour.

“This is the perfect opportunity to take time to stop and smell the roses, all while supporting your Minot Symphony Orchestra. Spend a couple of hours listening to live music while enjoying the beauty of Mother Nature. The tour will go on rain or shine,” said Ellen Fenner, executive director of the Minot Symphony Association.

This year’s featured gardens include the Ruelle garden, best described as business in the front and garden party in the back. The fenced-in yard is bursting with flowers, vegetables, a water fountain and fun yard art the owners make themselves.

The Price/Lang’s corner lot with a white picket fence features a deck and pergola with a drop-down shade perfect for summertime movies.

The Lowe/Desilets family garden is a favorite spot for the great-grandchildren to play and the adults to unwind. Fruit trees, grapevines, berries, vegetables and perennials cover their yard.

The Peterson yard features 50 shades of green and is curated with a variety of shade plants, trees and herbs.

The Kruegers’ yard is filled with character and unique potted plants. The solar lit patio is a favorite summertime spot.

In addition to featuring local, resident gardens, the Secret Garden Tour will explore Angelic Gardens, a business that has grown to more than five acres since 2002. Angelic Gardens has fruit, vegetables, a walk through garden and an orchard.

The Pollinator Garden also is being featured and is part of the certified North Dakota State University Extension Master Gardener program. The garden is a demonstration garden highlighting several perennial plants used in landscaping for pollinators.

New this year, the Pollinator Garden will feature various educational booths to promote sustainable practices. An all-ages scavenger hunt will be provided as well.

Tickets can be purchased in Minot at Lowe’s Garden Center, Visit Minot and Lien’s Jewelry.

Starting at $2.99/week.
