Area man dies in motorcycle-deer crash

VELVA – A Karlsruhe man died when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a deer about 10 miles east of Velva.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the time of the crash is uncertain but occurred between the overnight hours of Thursday and Friday morning.

Davis Franklin, 58, driving a 2001 Honda Shadow motorcycle, was going east on 45th Street North from Velva when the motorcycle collided with a deer on the road. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under the investigation of the Highway Patrol.
