A good day for a parade
News took the front page in this year’s North Dakota State Parade in Minot, with the theme “Extra! Extra! North Dakota Hot News.”
The news was hot, with people from several floats sharing water bottles with thirsty observers, and Magic City Pressure Washing drawing a crowd with a pressure washer misting onlookers.
Saturday’s event kicked off with the annual 5K “Run the Route,” in which people and pets of all ages ran and walked the parade route to cheering from family and friends before the floats and other units began making their way down the path.
“The looks on the kid’s faces when the truck puffs smoke and the air horns go off is priceless,” said Justin Bowen, Minot, who represented Paul’s Towing and Recovery in the parade with its large, red towing semi.
There were 187 floats from businesses and entities. The national anthem was sung by Kylie Ator, 12, Crosby.
