WATFORD CITY – An equipment failure caused the release of about 29,820 gallons of produced water at a well location about five miles west of Watford City.

Henry Hill Oil Services, LLC reported the incident on Sunday to the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division. The produced water was contained on location. Cleanup is underway. At the time of reporting 29,400 gallons of produced water had been recovered.

A state inspector has been to the location and will monitor any additional cleanup required.
