New Town student injured in stabbing incident at school

NEW TOWN – A student at New Town Middle School was injured in a stabbing incident at the school on Tuesday.

Three Affiliated Tribes Dispatch received a call at 8:29 a.m. with a report of the incident at the school.

Three Affiliated Tribes Law Enforcement responded to the location and upon arrival, discovered that an altercation had occurred at the school and a student was assaulted with a knife. The suspect was another juvenile and had fled the location.

The victim in the altercation was treated by New Town medics and later transported to Minot for further care with non-life-threatening injuries.

Three Affiliated Tribes Law Enforcement conducted a search of the New Town area and the juvenile suspect was located and taken into custody without incident. The juvenile was later transferred to the Gerald Fox Justice Center in New Town.

A brief lockdown of New Town Public Schools was ordered following the incident.
