Five people involved in crash west of Minot

Five people were involved in a two-vehicle crash that on U.S. Highway 2, about 12 miles west of Minot Tuesday.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, about 3:41 p.m., a 2016 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Robert Meredith, 47, Williston, was merging from U.S. Highway 52 southbound onto U.S. Highway 2 westbound when a northbound 2011 Kia Sorrento, driven by a 16-year-old girl, failed to yield at the intersection of Ward County 13 and Highway 2.

The pickup overturned and entered the north ditch, coming to rest on its roof. The Kia came to rest in the north ditch on its tires.

The driver of the Kia and a 16-year-old female passenger were taken to Trinity Hospital in Minot with suspected serious injuries, according to the Highway Patrol.

Meredith had minor injuries and two passengers in the pickup, Jacob Meade, 47, Epping, and Tyler Button, 29, Williston, were not injured.

Occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seat belts, the Highway Patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.

The names of the juveniles will not be released, according to the Highway Patrol.
