Drug raid defendant sentenced after jury trial
A Minot man convicted by a jury for two Class C felonies stemming from an August drug task force raid has been sentenced to serve 18 months with the Department of Corrections.
Jarrod Donald Henderson, 41, Minot, was amongst six people charged following the Aug. 9 Ward County Drug Task Force raid.
According to court documents, investigators found a variety of narcotics, drug paraphernalia, money and weapons on the property. Henderson pleaded not guilty to four counts: possession of heroin with intent to deliver, a Class B felony; and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-second offense, possession of methamphetamine-second offense, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, all Class C felonies. The heroin and meth charges were later dismissed.
Henderson appeared before North Central District Judge Todd Cresap on Monday, which concluded testimony the same day. The jury quickly returned a verdict of guilty on both counts. Henderson was sentenced on Wednesday, with Cresap ordering he first serve 18 months of a five-year sentence with credit for nine days already served on both counts.
Henderson will be required to complete three years of supervised probation upon release, as well as a chemical dependency evaluation. Henderson was assessed $1,100 in court fines and fees.
