Drilling rig causes diesel spill

KILLDEER – A diesel spill was caused by a drilling rig about 18 miles northwest of Killdeer Friday.

Enerplus Resources recently notified state agencies of the spill. The company estimated about 7,854 gallons of diesel were released under the rig and remained on the well pad. The spilled fluid is in the process of being collected and removed.

Personnel from the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality will inspect the site and monitor the investigation and remediation.
