City collects input on future strategic plan

Jill Schramm/MDN Nathan Routhier speaks at a community input meeting Monday as part of development of a strategic plan for the City of Minot. At left is meeting facilitator Catherine Carter with Raftelis Consulting Group.

Minot residents were asked Monday to weigh in on their city’s quality life, street conditions, safety and other issues as part of shaping a new strategic plan for the City of Minot.

The city is working with Raftelis Consulting Group to gather input and determine how residents feel about where the city stands and where they would like to see it go in the future.

Additional input meetings are set for today from 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m. in the former Minot City Council chambers, located at 515 2nd Ave. SW, in the former city hall.

City Manager Harold Stewart said a recent citizens satisfaction survey allowed citizens the opportunity to participate in the city’s decision-making process. The community meetings offer a similar opportunity, he said.

“These are open to anyone in the public that would like to come,” he said. “What we’re working on is a strategic plan and a strategic vision for the city as an organization for the future.”

Community members can attend a meeting to leave input or participate in guided discussion on city services and quality of life.

The plan will be finalized after the city council reorganizes following the June election. Results will guide the annual city council retreat in July.
