Local man sentenced for domestic violence charge

A Minot man has been sentenced to serve two years with the N.D. Department of Corrections after entering a change of plea to guilty on a felony charge of domestic violence.

Daniel Lain Green, 49, Minot, was arrested in March 2023 after a report was made at the Minot Police Station by an unidentified victim on Christmas Day 2022.

According to court documents, the victim shared harassing and threatening text messages from Green, some of which contained threats to kill her. The victim also shared information regarding a domestic incident between her and Green on Dec. 23, 2022.

Green appeared in North Central District Court on March 19 before Judge Richard Hagar for his change of plea, entering a guilty plea to a Class C felony count of domestic violence-serious bodily injury, while a count of Class C felony terrorizing-adult victim was dismissed.

Hagar sentenced Green to serve two years of a five-year sentence with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, with credit for 47 days already served. Hagar ordered Green to complete two years of supervised probation and a domestic violence evaluation. Green was also assessed $1,100 in court fines and fees.
