Hearing scheduled for driver in head-on collision
The driver of a vehicle involved in a head-on collision that resulted in severe injury to a Minot teen will make his initial appearance in North Central District Court in Minot on Tuesday.
James Feeley, 18, Minot, has been charged with criminal vehicular injury-felony involving a motor vehicle, a Class C felony, as well as two infractions for possession of controlled substance-marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-marijuana.
According to a release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Feeley was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer west in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 2 in the evening of Jan. 31 when he crashed into a 2008 Toyota Yaris driven by Tyanna Weeks, 18, Minot. Weeks sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Trinity Hospital. Feeley experienced serious injury and was taken to Trinity Hospital after being charged.
Class C felonies carry a maximum sentence of five years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and up to $10,000 in fines. Possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana can result in fines as high as $1,000.
