Williston man charged for prohibited material

A Williston man has been charged with nine felony counts in Northwest District Court for directing and promoting an obscene sexual performance by a minor, and possession of material prohibited.

Alexzander Rosencrans, 18, Williston, was arrested on Friday in Williston and appeared before district court Judge Josh Rustad on Monday for a bond hearing.

According to court documents, Williston Police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in November regarding the uploading of suspected child sexual abuse materials. Investigators were able to determine that the IP address was allegedly located at Rosencrans current and former residences. Investigators obtained a search warrant after receiving additional tips from NCMEC and seized and searched multiple devices and social media accounts used by Rosencrans to allegedly share and solicit CSAM from a minor.

Rosencrans has been charged with six counts of promoting or directing an obscene sexual performance by a minor, a Class A felony, and three counts of possession of certain materials prohibited, a Class C felony.

Rosencrans’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 21 and a jury trial is set for May 28.

Starting at $2.99/week.
