New Town man arrested in stabbing dies
A New Town man arrested by Bismarck Police for stabbing another man has died in a Minnesota hospital from a gunshot wound he sustained in the incident.
Keanu Bird, 21, New Town, was charged on Dec. 15 after police investigated a reported shooting and stabbing in Bismarck. According to court documents, witnesses said Bird and the 23-year-old victim were in an apartment when Bird repeatedly stabbed the victim in the abdomen. Witnesses told investigators the victim then shot Bird in self-defense. Both Bird and the victim were transported to a local hospital for treatment, but Bird was eventually airlifted to Minnesota.
Bird was charged with attempted murder on Dec. 29, with a warrant of arrest issued the same day. Bird died from his injuries Jan. 1 before he could be formally arrested. Court records indicate the case is now listed as inactive due to Bird’s death.
