A Williston company received approval from the Minot City Council Monday to bring back taxi service to Minot.

TransportME, a Williston-based taxicab company, has told the city that it plans to license three vehicles, of which one will be accessible for the mobility impaired, as required by city ordinance. The company expects to begin operation as soon as today.

TransportME owner Ademola Adekunle said he has two drivers waiting to begin as he has gone through about two months of permitting processes to bring taxi service to Minot. His company is engaged in various transportation services, including school bussing, college student and oil field transportation and contract transportation with SkyWest Airlines staff in Williston.

Adekunle said if the initial cab service in Minot goes well, he can expand as needed.
