Two die in motorcycle crash west of Minot

A motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 2 resulted in the death of two Burlington residents Thursday, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

According to the Highway Patrol, at 4:41 p.m. a Honda Accord driven by Adam Trueblood, 36, Minot, attempted to cross U.S. 2 from a nearby frontage road about four miles west of Minot and was struck by an oncoming 2019 Harley Davidson, traveling west on U.S. 2.

The driver of the motorcycle, Vernon Eckel, 62, and passenger Pamela Eckel, 64, both Burlington, were ejected. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene, The driver was transported by ambulance to a Minot hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Honda did not sustain injuries.

The Highway Patrol reported the Honda driver was wearing a seatbelt, and the motorcycle driver and passenger were not wearing helmets.

The Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
