Sixth-grader to sing National Anthem at parade

Chelsee Holmen

Chelsee Holmen, a sixth-grader from Velva Elementary School, will be singing the National Anthem at the beginning of the North Dakota State Parade in Minot on Saturday.

The parade starts at 9:15 a.m. at the corner of Broadway and Burdick Expressway and travels east on Burdick and through the North Dakota State Fairgrounds.

Chelsee will sing near the judge’s stand along Burdick Expressway.

Chelsee has been singing the National Anthem since she was in third grade when she was asked to sing at the Velva Parade. She sang the National Anthem this past Easter Sunday at the Minnesota Twins game.

Singing the National Anthem means a lot to Chelsee. Her dad is a U.S. Army veteran and she knows how much it means to him.

Chelsee lives with her dad John, mom Lacey and sister Molly in Voltaire.

She is also involved with Western Plains Children’s Choir and plays saxophone and piano.
