ND Cowboy Hall of Fame to meet in Minot this weekend
Submitted Photo Placemats with original art by Andy Knudson, of Scandia, Minnesota, and formerly of Minot and Towner, surrounded by brands, will be available at the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame’s annual meeting in Minot Friday and Saturday.
About 400 people are expected to attend the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame’s 28th annual meeting on Friday and Saturday in the Clarion Hotel Convention Center’s Coliseum in Minot, according to Rick Thompson, the organization’s executive director.
This is the second time in NDCHF’s history the annual meeting has been held in Minot.
A highlight of the annual meeting will be testimonials made by family members and friends about those nominated for the 2023 Hall of Fame. The NDCHF board of directors selected nominees at its meeting last month. NDCHF trustees vote for the finalists by mail-in ballots.
Nominees for 2023 are:
Cowboy Long Rider: Donald Stearns, Bowman; and Alan Woodbury, Dickinson.
Pre-1940s Ranching: Jim Harmon, Medora area; and John “Jack” McCrory, Emmons County.
Modern-era Ranching: Arnold Bendish, Fort Rice; and Adolph Burkhardt, Medora area.
Pre-1970s Rodeo: Raymond Gilstad, McKenzie County; and Ken Neuens, Colorado and Killdeer Mountains.

Entertainment is planned for both nights of the annual meeting. Bob Watts, known as “The Crowbar Man,” also will demonstrate how he paints a picture with a crowbar both nights.
