Donkey Basketball fundraiser set

Submitted Photo Our Redeemer’s Christian School in Minot is holding a Donkey Basketball fundraiser with proceeds going toward the school’s gym beautification project. “Some of the donkeys can get a little feisty,” said Tara Roedocker of ORCS.

Our Redeemers Christian School is hosting Donkey Basketball on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the school gym.

“It is a great fundraiser to work toward our gym beautification project — to update the gym floor with paint and some general sprucing up,” said Tara Roedocker, ORCS spokesman for the PTO. “We try and do a project a year. Playground equipment has been the last years so this is something nice for our older students.

“We are doing a kiss the donkey at halftime, where you can come and donate money in different jars for who you want to kiss the donkey at halftime. Mr. Ringsted, our principal, is on one jar,” said Roedocker. “Bryan Vibeto, Vibeto Orthodontics, is on a jar for the donkey kiss, as well as Kiera Biberdorf and Leah Lindquist, two junior girls at Our Redeemer’s High School.”

In addition to the donkey show coming from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, (dairylanddonkeyball.com), there will be a contest to shoot as many basketballs as you can and gift-card giveaways, Roedocker said.

“Dairyland will completely make sure the gym floor doesn’t get wrecked, and I almost feel that the donkeys will have little booties on,” Roedocker said.

Donkey Basketball is played tournament style, with local business sponsors riding the donkeys. The first game is between Vibeto Orthodontics, with Bryan Vibeto as a donkey jockey, and Qdoba. The second game features Vix Farms vs. Creative Property Management, and the third game will be the championship.

“It will be two hours from start to finish on Saturday, and each of the four teams are about 10 people each,” said Roedocker.

For more information on teams and times, visit Our Redeemer’s Christian School’s Facebook page. Tickets for the event are available at the ORCS office. Tickets purchased in advance are $7 and at the door, $10.

Starting at $2.99/week.
