Wall of Honor placed to mark Remembrance Day

Minot Wreaths Across America has placed a Wall of Honor in the lobby of the Grand Hotel in remembrance of POW/MIAs on Sept. 16, which is the National POW/MIA Remembrance Day.  The wall will be on display for two weeks.

The POW/MIA Wall of Honor includes 47 names of those from North Dakota who were prisoners of war/missing in action from the Korean War, Vietnam War and Persian Gulf War.  Each name has their rank, branch of service and brief information about them.

In keeping with the Wreaths Across America mission to “Remember our fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach our children the value of freedom,” Minot’s Wreaths Across America wants to focus on the theme, “Find a way to serve.”  In doing so, the organization is making applications for sponsoring a veteran’s wreath available to anyone visiting the Wall of Honor to complete and mail in.

Those who are not able to visit the wall and would like to help sponsor a wreath may do so by sending a donation of $15 per wreath to Wreaths Across America, 1738 35th Ave. SE, Minot, ND  58701.  Make payable to Wreaths Across America.

Application forms for those who have sponsored in past years will be going out this month.  This is the ninth year of the laying of the wreaths by the Minot chapter. All applications are due no later than Nov. 22.  This year’s laying of wreaths will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17.  More information will be given as the day approaches.
