Man sentenced for strangling

Rahsaan Akil Reid, 23, Minot, was sentenced on Aug. 10 to two years in prison, all suspended but the 104 days he already served in the Ward County Jail, and two years of supervised probation on a Class C felony domestic violence causing serious bodily injury charge.

Judge Stacy Louser also ordered Reid to have no contact with the victim and to complete a course for domestic violence offenders. She ordered him to pay $525 in court costs and restitution yet to be determined.

Reid was charged in February with strangling a woman during a domestic violence altercation. The woman told police that Reid had thrown her down to the ground and squeezed her neck so hard she couldn’t breathe. The victim had marks on her neck, according to court documents.
