Minot man sentenced for felony domestic violence
Jeffrey John Gibson III, 29, Minot, was sentenced on Thursday to 360 days in jail, all suspended but the 35 days he has already spent in the Ward County Jail, and 18 months supervised probation for Class C felony domestic violence causing serious bodily injury on May 17. According to court documents, Gibson had been accused of kicking and punching a woman and putting her in a headlock, cutting off her air supply, on different occasions during the domestic altercation.
The state agreed to dismiss a Class C felony felonious restraint and a Class B misdemeanor domestic violence causing bodily injury charge under the terms of a plea deal.
Judge Richard Hagar also ordered Gibson to complete a course for domestic violence offenders and to pay $825 in court costs.
The offense will be deemed a Class A misdemeanor upon successful completion of probation.
