Hazen woman dies in two-vehicle hit-and-run crash

ORISKA – A Hazen woman died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle hit and run crash on Interstate 94, near the Oriska Rest Area.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said the woman, 42, was a passenger in a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500, towing an empty U-Haul flatbed car trailer.

The Dodge, driven by a 46-year-old Hazen woman, was going west when rearended by a 2017 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Wyatt Stalock, 26, Jamestown. The Dodge and trailer entered the median and rolled. A 14-year-old female passenger in the Dodge was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle during the rollover. The other two occupants remained in the vehicle.

After striking the Dodge, the patrol said the GMC fled the crash scene. The GMC was located later by the Highway Patrol in Jamestown. Stalock was arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal crash, a Class B felony. He was taken to the Stutsman County Corrections. He was not injured in the crash.

The 14-year-old passenger and 46-year-old driver of the Dodge were taken to Sanford Hospital, Fargo, for their injuries.

Names of those in the Dodge were not released yet. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
