MSU instructor to conduct city band programs
David Rolandson will be the director of the Minot City Band for its performances held in June.
On Sunday, the band will perform two concerts, one at 4 p.m. and another at 7 p.m., in Roosevelt Park.
The program will have “The Star Spangled Banner,” “America the Beautiful,” “Porgy and Bess Selection,” “The Syncopated Clock” and others.
Rolandson is associate professor of music, director of bands, music education coordinator and low brass teacher at Minot State University. He is serving as the principal tuba with the Minot Symphony Orchestra. He earned a doctorate in music education at the University of Minnesota, a master of music in wind band conducting with a graduate cognate in tuba performance from Central Washington University and a bachelor of music education from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Other concerts in June that he will direct are: June 26 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., Oak Park; and June 30 at 7 p.m., Main Street.
