Minot man arrested for trespass at airport

A Minot man was arrested for criminal trespass Friday after entering a secured area at the Minot airport without authorization, according to the Minot Police Department.

Jared Belzer, 42, was taken to the Ward County Jail on the Felony C charge.

According to police, officers were at the Minot International Airport at 12:16 a.m. in response to a call about a male upset about missing his flight. While officers were still at the airport, an alarm activated, indicating a potential security issue. A witness immediately informed officers of an individual who had gone through the secured area exit doors and into the gate boarding area.

Officers located Belzer, a passenger on a pending, outgoing flight, and took him into custody. The outgoing flight was deboarded and canceled until the secured area of the airport was thoroughly searched and cleared per normal airport security procedures.
