Garrison Dam power plant opens for tours in June

RIVERDALE — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, announces the availability of group tours at Garrison Dam beginning June 2.

Ticket reservations for Energy Group, Hydroelectric Power Plant and School Power Plant tours will be available to the public May 25, with the first tour beginning June 2.

Those taking part in tours are advised they will be entering a secure facility and that a number of rules and guidelines apply including:

— A state or federal issued identification card is required prior to entry for individuals over 18 years old.

— Individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

— No bags, cases, parcels, cameras, cell phones, purses, backpacks, diaper bags, food, drink or pets are allowed to enter the facility.

— All individuals will be asked to sign the logbook.

To ensure tour participants’ safety:

— Visitors must wear closed toe shoes to attend tours.

— Visitors must wear safety equipment supplied by the Army Corps of Engineers.

— Safety equipment may include, but is not limited to, safety glasses, goggles and hardhats.
