Honoring ND’s Vietnam fallen heroes

Submitted Photo This 20-foot wall display in the lobby of the Grand Hotel, Minot, honors North Dakota Vietnam fallen heroes.

The local Wreaths Across America group has set up displays in the Grand Hotel, Minot, in honor of North Dakota Vietnam fallen heroes. The displays will run through April 4.

A 20-foot wall on display in the lobby was created, designed and donated by Richard Reuer, Minot Wreaths Across America event coordinator.

In front of Primo restaurant is a missing man table along with a poster with the photos and names of those North Dakotans who died during the Vietnam War. On the wall is a photo of each, the date and place they died in Vietnam, and their hometown.

Wreaths Across America’s theme this year is “Find a way to serve.”

On the missing man table there are application forms for those who visit the wall to sponsor a wreath and place the name or names of any of the Vietnam fallen heroes on the back of the form. The applications can be mailed with a check to Wreaths Across America. 1738 35th Ave. SE, Minot, ND 58701 or place both application form and check in the donation box next to the missing man table.

The displays are being done in conjunction with National Vietnam War Veterans Day on Tuesday, March 29. That day the Minot Vet Center will host its 10th annual Vietnam Veterans Celebration at the Grand Hotel from 2-4 p.m., with a program at 2:15 p.m.
