Volunteers prepare for Minot Wreaths Across America event
About 30 volunteers from Minot Wreaths Across America placed 634 crosses in Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot on Saturday in preparation for this year’s event on Dec. 18.
Volunteers included Minot High School Central Campus and Magic City Campus students, Ward County Sheriff’s Office, veterans and others in the community.
“Last year we had placed 40 floral stands for those who wished to place their personal wreaths in Section 16 of their loved ones and because of the great response with that we were able to place a total of 74 extra crosses for those who wish to participate in doing this again this year,” said Richard Reuer, Minot Wreaths Across America Event coordinator.
“This year in place of dog tags, we are having their loved one’s name, rank, branch of service and war era on a wreath tag so that they will be able to know where to place their loved one’s wreath. They will be alphabetical order. Right now about 11 crosses have been reserved by those who participated last year,” Reuer said.
He said those who participated last year and wish to participate again this year and have received their application in the mail, need to return them with their donation of $15 per wreath as soon as possible.
