Tianna Demontigny, Minot, receives deferred sentence for deprivation of a minor
Tianna Ashley Demontigny, 31, Minot, who had originally been charged with Class C felony child abuse for reportedly punching a 7-year-old boy in the hip last year, entered an Alford plea on Wednesday to a reduced charge of Class A misdemeanor deprivation of a minor.
The Alford plea means she maintains her innocence but acknowledges that she might be found guilty if the case went to trial.
Under the terms of a plea deal with the state, Demontigny will be on supervised probation for 360 days and must pay restitution and court costs. The A misdemeanor deprivation of a minor charge will be dismissed if she complies with all terms and conditions of the court.
According to court documents, the child is living out of state with another party and Demontigny disputes some of the facts of the case and has said there has been an ongoing dispute over child custody.
