New Town college offers $500 incentive to vaccinated students

NEW TOWN — Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College will offer a $500 incentive to students enrolled in the fall 2021 semester who can verify they are fully vaccinated.

Twyla Baker, NHSC president, said, “After witnessing the severe effects the COVID-19 pandemic had on the Fort Berthold area, the NHSC Board of Directors and Administration strongly encourage students to get vaccinated. We are seeing a resurgence in the number of positive cases in the Fort Berthold area and across the State of North Dakota and determined it was time to act. The financial incentive rewards those who have prioritized their health and the health of others. It is also meant to motivate those who have not yet been vaccinated, to act. The MHA Nation has a heritage of protecting our people from outside threats to our wellbeing and we’re committed to doing our part to protect our community from the Coronavirus.”

To be eligible, students must be fully vaccinated (both shots of Pfizer/Moderna or one shot of Johnson & Johnson/Janssen) by Tuesday, Nov. 4. Students must present their vaccination cards to Constance King-Gottschall, NHSC vice president of Student Services for verification and processing.
