Joshua Brydon, Minot, sentenced to 18 months for intent to deliver meth

Joshua John Brydon, 41, Minot, was sentenced on Friday to five years in prison, with a requirement that he first serve 18 months, followed by three years of supervised probation for Class B felony intent to deliver methamphetamine in April. North Central District Court Judge Gary Lee gave him credit for 94 days already served in jail, plus 13 days off his sentence for good behavior. Brydon was also ordered to obtain a chemical dependency evaluation and to pay $775 in court costs. He received concurrent sentences for two Class C felony counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, a police officer was conducting surveillance outside Brydon’s residence at 814 5th St. NE on April 17. Brydon had an active warrant out for his arrest at the time. The officer spotted two men leaving the residence, one of them Brydon, and get into a car and leave. Brydon was carrying a backpack. The car was followed and stopped after it went over the Third Street Viaduct after the driver failed to signal before making a right-hand turn. The officers ordered Brydon, who was a passenger in the vehicle, out of the vehicle and his backpack was then searched after Brydon’s probation officer gave permission. The backpack contained two digital scales, both with meth residue, a used hypodermic needle, a clear bag containing 13.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine and several smaller plastic baggies, a razor used to prepare the crystal rock, and $21 in cash.
