Anthony Davis, Minot, charged with attempted murder

Anthony Lee Davis, 29, Minot, has been charged with Class A felony attempted murder, two counts of Class C felony terrorizing, Class C felony theft of a motor vehicle, Class C felony felon in possession of a firearm, Class A misdemeanor menacing, Class A misdemeanor aggravated reckless driving, Class B misdemeanor driving under the influence, Class B misdemeanor driving with a suspended license, and Class B misdemeanor discharging a firearm within the city limits following an incident on Saturday, according to Minot police.

He is in custody at the Ward County Jail.

According to police, they received a report at 5:10 p.m. Saturday that Davis had fired a gun towards another vehicle in northwest Minot and then fled in a stolen gold Chrysler 300. While officers were investigating that report, dispatchers received a report at 5:43 p.m. that a man had been shot while in his vehicle near 20th Avenue and South Broadway. The stolen Chrysler 300 was involved in a crash near the area of 14th Avenue and 1st Street SW and Davis had then fled the area and had then threatened someone else by firing his weapon into the air. Officers were able to detain Davis at 5:55 p.m., without further incident. Police said there does not appear to be any connection between Davis and any of the purported victims. The man who was shot was taken to Trinity Hospital for treatment. The two people in the vehicle that was struck by Davis were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Davis is still on probation for an unrelated offense of Class C felony terrorizing and Class C felony felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced in 2019 in district court in Minot to five years in prison, with a requirement that he serve two years, and three years of supervised probation for brandishing a gun at a resident in a northwest Minot apartment building as part of an ongoing dispute.
