Donna Jean Kajune, 25, Minot, was sentenced on Friday to 360 days in jail, all suspended but the 56 days she already served in the Ward County Jail, and 18 months of supervised probation for failing to immediately take a 5-month-old girl to the hospital for medical care March 19. The baby had a broken arm and a doctor told authorities that the injury occurred up to nine days before the baby was seen in the hospital. The doctor said the injury could not have happened the way Kajune said it did and the baby would have shown discomfort in the days after she was injured.. But, because five adults were living in the trailer at the time, the prosecution cannot prove which of the adults caused the injury.

The baby is currently in foster care. Judge Gary Lee also ordered that any contact Kajune has with the baby must be at the direction of Ward County Social Services.

Lee also ordered Kajune to pay court costs.

Kajune’s co-defendant, Phillp Clifton Boswell, 40, received the same sentence earlier this week for Class C felony child neglect.
