Temporary detours will be in place at the intersection of Third Street Northeast and Fifth Avenue Northeast, starting on Monday.

The intersection will be closed, as will the Third Street bridge from First Avenue Northeast to Fifth Avenue Northeast. Traffic from the north and south will be rerouted west to Broadway. The driving public should use caution and pay attention as this work begins.

This work is part of Phase MI-1 Fourth Avenue of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project. This phase includes over 2,250 feet of floodwalls located between just west of Broadway and just east of Third Street Northeast. The project also includes earthen levees on both sides of where the Broadway Bridge connects on the north side of the river, and two removeable closure structures in the flood wall.
