David Kunkel, Minot, charged with possession of stolen moped

David Robert Kunkel, 30, Minot, is charged in district court in Minot with Class C felony possession of a stolen 2013 Yamaha Zuma 50F moped valued at $2,590 on June 10.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, a police officer saw Kunkel riding the stolen moped on Burdick Expressway on Thursday afternoon.

The moped was later located in northwest Minot. Kunkel’s residence is about 1,000 feet away from the location where the moped was found.

In another case, he is charged in district court in Minot with stealing a Yamaha YFZ-R6 dirt bike that had been parked outside the Ward County Jail on May 17. The dirt bike was valued at $3,586. The dirt bike was recovered and returned to its owner. According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Kunkel told authorities that Sarah Kelley, 25, told him that he was supposed to take the bike for his friend. Kunkel is charged in that case with Class C felony theft and Kelley is charged with Class C felony accomplice to theft.
