Theater receives grants, donations toward lobby project

Mouse River Players has announced it received two grants toward its $350,000 lobby renovation project.

Enbridge donated $2,500, and Verendrye Electric Operation Round-Up donated $1,500.

In addition, MRP recently received $5,000 by Pinnacle Engineering of Bismarck for the project. Individual donations have totaled $5,623 so far, in addition to the $10,000 committed by MRP.

MRP will continue to reach out to area businesses and individual donors and apply for matching grants.

“Support for this project is deeply appreciated and no gift is too small,” the MRP board stated in a news release. “Larger donors are being recognized with signage on the honor wall that we are planning for the new lobby as well as with advertising and season tickets for employees.”

People interested in donating can go to https://mouseriverplayers.com to choose one of several ways to give.

MRP also announced that the Minot Air Force Base’s 5th Civil Engineer Squadron has volunteered to assist with some demolition and construction next spring.

“What a great way for them to honor the many airmen and women who have participated in our shows by contributing to this project. We appreciate the base leadership who agreed to sign onto this project,” the board stated.

MRP’s next performance will be “An Evening By the Radio.” The show was written by Cortney DuPona and Lin Knickerbocker, who is also directing. This old-fashioned radio show offers music, skits, comedy, detective noir and more.

Tickets can be purchased from the website for performances that will be held on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at The Arlene, 115 1st Street SE.
