City to hold budget tours

The Minot City Council will be holding budget meetings this month with tours of government offices.

A budget tour will be held May 19, starting at the Public Works Building, with additional tours at the water plant and landfill. There will be presentations on property maintenance, streets, storm sewers, cemetery, water/sewer treatment, transit and vehicle maintenance, water distribution, garbage collection and landfill, traffic and engineering. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. and is expected to run until 9:30 p.m.

On May 20, the council will hold a budget tour from 3-9:30 p.m., starting at Fire Station 1 and including visits to the fire training grounds, proposed Station 5 site and police department. It will include sessions with the finance, human resources, city attorney and tax assessment departments.

On May 27, there will be a budget tour at the airport from 3-5 p.m. Budget tours also are planned beginning at 6 p.m. with the city clerk, public information officer, community development director, library director and city manager.
