Zayne Parisien indicted for shooting another man in stomach in Belcourt

Zayne Ty Parisien, 25, Belcourt, has been indicted in U.S. District Court in North Dakota on a charge that he shot another man in the stomach on Feb. 13 in Belcourt. According to court documents, the other man told authorities that he had argued with Parisien because he believed Parisien had stolen his keys and Parisien then pulled out a handgun and shot him. The victim was treated for the injury at a Belcourt hospital. The previous month, Parisien allegedly held a gun to a second man’s head and threatened him. Parisien and the alleged victim of the incident are both members of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa.

Parisien is currently in custody at the Ward County Jail in Minot on the federal charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.

A jury trial in the case has been scheduled for April 20 in U.S. District Court in Fargo before Judge Peter Welte.
