Judge dismisses copper wire theft charges against Tucker St. Croix for lack of evidence; charges stand against Mataia Andre

North Central District Court Judge Doug Mattson dismissed some of the theft charges against Tucker Kruze St. Croix, 28, on Thursday, after ruling that there was not enough evidence to let the case proceed. However, he did let the case go forward against St. Croix’s girlfriend, Mataia Lei Andre, 27, of Minot.

Each was charged with two counts of Class C felony theft of copper wire from the construction site at the new Trinity Hospital and from Northwestern Electric, dating back to June 2020. According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court in the June incident, the construction site of the new Trinity Hospital was burglarized on June 22 and copper piping valued at $7,414 was stolen. On June 23, Northwestern Electric was burglarized and copper wiring valued at $4,396.93 was stolen.

Andre pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

St. Croix also pleaded not guilty to charges in a separate case in which he is accused of stealing two large TVs and a soundbar from Walmart on Oct. 11, 2020. Andre allegedly picked him up and the stolen property was discovered at their residence. Andre claimed she had not known that St. Croix stole the items. She also pleaded not guilty in that case to Class C felony conspiracy to commit theft.
