The North Dakota Oil and Gas Division reports two separate incidents of releases of crude oil at well sites in Williams County this week.

The division was notified of a release occurring Tuesday at the CPEUSC DOIS 7-19-18-158N-98W TFH well, about 14 miles southeast of Alamo. Crescent Point Energy U.S. Corp. reported Wednesday that 21,000 gallons of crude oil were released due to an equipment failure/malfunction. The product was contained on-site and cleanup is underway. At the time of reporting 21,000 gallons of oil had been recovered and hauled away, according to division officials.

The division was also notified March 4 by Liberty Resources of a release occurring at the ND STATE 158-95-16-9-3MBH well site located 12 miles south of McGregor. Liberty Resources reported that 10,500 gallons of crude oil were released inside of lined containment due to an equipment failure. At the time of reporting cleanup was under way.

A state inspector has been to the location and will monitor additional cleanup required in both incidents.
