Justin Thornton, Lana Humke, charged with intent to deliver methamphetamine

Justin Clifford Thornton, 31, and Lana Gwin Humke, 27, are each charged in district court in Ward County with Class B felony intent to deliver methamphetamine on Oct. 22, 2020. They are also each charged with two Class C felony possession of drug paraphernalia charges.

Thornton was scheduled to make an initial appearance on the charges on Thursday before Judge Stacy Louser. A warrant has been issued for Humke’s arrest.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Hotel in Minot had contacted police about drug paraphernalia that had been found in the room occupied by Thornton and Humke. The hotel manager wanted to evict the couple. Police responded to the hotel and eventually obtained a search warrant. The search turned up assorted drug paraphernalia, including a scale, smoking devices, used syringes, plastic baggies and 31.5 grams of methamphetamine in two baggies, which police estimated would be equal to between 157 and 315 dosages of meth. In the hotel bathroom they found an enamel case containing folded aluminum foil that contained a white powder consistent with heroin or fentanyl. They also found a sheet of paper that appeared to include prices for heroin.
