Jay Moody, Bowman, charged with luring a minor by computer
Jay Roy Moody, 39, Bowman, has been charged in district court in Burke County with Class C felony luring a minor by computer.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Moody arranged a meeting and believed he would be meeting a 16-year-old girl at an ice house on an area lake to have sexual contact. He had actually been communicating with a fake social media profile set up by a Burke County deputy. He was arrested when he showed up for the meeting on Sunday at Smishek Lake.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office titled its sting operation “Operation Ice House.”
A preliminary hearing for Moody is scheduled for April 13 before Judge Stacy Louser in district court in Burke County.
